Converse Wins Outstanding Delegate at 2024 Southeast Model Arab League
Converse University’s Model Programs Egypt delegation took the Outstanding Delegate Award in 6 of the 8 councils and finished second in the other two councils to win the Outstanding Delegation Award at the Southeast Model Arab League conference (SERMAL). The second delegation, representing Kuwait, finished third overall and shared the Outstanding Delegation Award with Egypt in two councils.
The conference was held over the weekend at Converse University. Participating universities came from Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, and Arkansas.
S. Feser ’23 was selected as the Outstanding Chair, and Jack Stokes ’24 and Faith Nanna ’24 were selected as Distinguished Chairs. Anna Scott was the Secretary-General of the model.
Delano Roosevelt, the grandson of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the newly appointed CEO of the National Council of U.S.-Arab Relations, spoke at the Opening Session.
Converse is headed to George Mason University for the National University Model Arab League. They will compete against universities from across the entire country. This event hosts more than 400 students from approximately 25 colleges and universities annually.
