CJ Swartzwelter
CJ received her B.A. in Psychology and her M.Ed./Ed.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in South Carolina, and has worked in higher education since 2020. She completed her clinical internships at two college counseling centers, including Converse, while working as a graduate case manager for over 7,500 residential students at Clemson University.
CJ takes an integrative approach to counseling, incorporating aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality therapy, acceptance-and-commitment therapy, and schema therapy together in her work with students. Her clinical interests include psychological assessments, anxiety disorders, and attachment trauma.
When she’s not working with students or geeking out over counseling theories, CJ enjoys paddle boarding, cheering on the Clemson Tigers, spoiling her cat, Stash, and discovering new books to read. To those considering counseling, CJ offers this quote by Sarah J. Maas: “Revealing my vulnerabilities doesn’t make me weak, and voicing my fears doesn’t make me a coward. It makes me human.”
